The design of an optic fiber glove for the rehabilitation and evaluation of the recovery of sensitivity in the superior limbs
A I+D+I Project developed with the Public University of Navarra which aims to design the first glove endowed with Bragg diffraction (FBGs) in order to monitor the movements of the hand and finger.
The combination of these new devices along with the developed software will mean a significant advance in comparison with other systems which presently exist in the market. They are being developed with a clear focus on social innovation as the users themselves participate in the definition of the concept and in the design stages, prototype, etc.
These low-cost solutions, together with the development of professional protocols of application will mean that in the future the health professionals will be able to access the biomechanical evaluation objectives of their patients. So, they will be able to carry out a better diagnosis, a better monitoring, both in severe phases as well as chronic ones and so find out if the recovery is optimum. In this way, health costs will be reduced for the treatment and rehabilitation of these kinds of cases.
